Table of Content

The designation and roles in SEO Services are given through various combinations such as professional experience, education and certification. But if you ask me personally nothing is more vital than experience. Most of the SEO do similar tasks, it's only a matter of more responsibilities.

Based on the projects I undertake, I mainly like to call myself an SEO Specialist when I work on an entire project or an SEO Consultant when consulting or auditing. In this article, I will briefly discuss what roles and responsibilities are designated for each role.

Seek.com.au data

As per seek.com.au data, there are several roles for SEO, and the most popular and advertised roles include.

  1. SEO Coordinator
  2. SEO Executive
  3. SEO Specialist
  4. SEO Manager
  5. SEO Consultant

I prefer to reference seek.com.au as I think Seek is more reliable, and there is less chance of being ghosted with Ads as this platform is paid and has a good reputation.

SEO Coordinator

SEO Coordinator implements and executes SEO developed by senior team members, ensuring SEO best practices are implemented.

SEO Coordinators are more involved in day-to-day operations, for example doing keyword research, changing page titles and meta descriptions etc.

SEO Executive

SEO Executives and SEO coordinators are somehow similar in roles and responsibilities.

SEO executives can have more experience and responsibility compared to SEO coordinators in terms of decision-making and strategy planning.

SEO Specialist

SEO Specialist focuses on optimizing website ranking by focusing on website content by doing extensive keyword research, market research, and competitor analysis.

SEO Specialist is also tasked to perform these SEO activities:

  1. On-Page SEO
  2. Technical SEO
  3. Website audit
  4. Outreach and link-building

I see myself as a WordPress Developer and SEO Specialist.

SEO Manager

An SEO Manager could be a senior SEO managing multiple clients or team members. They might include SEO specialists and SEO coordinators.

SEO managers are expected to develop and execute SEO campaigns, monitor them and make sure SEO best practices are implemented.

SEO Consultant

SEO consultant provides high-level, expert advice to improve their organic SEO rankings. SEO Consultant is a more experienced role, and with a good consultant, you are expected to get a perfect strategy.

SEO consultants can provide statistics recommendations around:

  1. Keyword research
  2. Content planning
  3. Website architecture
  4. On-Page SEO
  5. Technical SEO
  6. Local SEO
  7. Outreach and link-building

Conclusion

This blog had been more like general writing around the main SEO positions. I will be discussing these in detail in the coming days. Stay tuned.
